THE ROLE            

We have an excellent opportunity for a Regional Director, Seniors Health to join a national growing, not-for-profit home and community healthcare organization/social enterprise.  The preferred location for this leadership opportunity in Edmonton.  Reporting to the Vice President, Clinical Practice, Quality & Seniors Health, the Regional Director provides strategic clinical and operational leadership for the Seniors Health portfolio in Alberta.  In this role, you will be a passionate advocate and leader in helping SE Health to meet its vision: to forever impact how people live and age at home, across Canada and around the world.     The Seniors Health portfolio includes seniors living and long-term care facilities under SE Health management, as well as strategic growth opportunities for SE Healths Model of Care of Older Adults.  Management responsibilities focus on quality for all residents and clients under our care; and on providing exemplary leadership support for our people, so each and every one is enabled to provide the very best care and service possible.  Further, the Regional Director leads partnership building and management with Alberta Health Services and other SE Health specific funders and partners.

 

The Regional Director, in collaboration with other leaders in the Seniors Health portfolio, fosters a culture of continuous quality improvement and excellence by working with partners to develop and enhance systems and processes that embed dimensions of quality across the portfolio. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for safe quality and excellent resident care and resident experience, with adoption of leading practices, standards and contractual requirements, and ensuring the achievement of service standards and financial targets at the select sites.
    • Collaborate with the site management teams to build the annual performance plan in alignment with SE Health strategic goals and Model of Care for Seniors Health
    • Support the Site Managers in managing the facility budget(s) to achieve quadruple aim objectives for each site
    • Implement communication strategies to promote shared vision and collaborative working relationships
    • Implement facility/program changes, providing project and change management leadership
    • Accountable for the preparation and presentation of quarterly quality and safety material for review with the Vice President, and with external funders and partners.
    • Complete regular performance reviews with SE Health internal leadership, as well as with key customers and other stakeholders
    • Ensure facility quality and operating compliance to provincial regulations
    • Lead new site implementation activity including development and implementation / oversight of detailed project plans in collaboration with Business Development
    • Provides leadership for people management, engagement, and team development.
  • Drives a culture of quality improvement and client safety.
    • Leads development of site level management teams in quality improvement and enhancing performance driven culture.
    • Works in partnership with the Advanced Practice Leader and Analytics and Decision Support Leader, and the site leadership teams for execution of Quality, Risk and Performance framework within the Alberta Seniors Health portfolio.
    • Leads Accreditation preparation for the Alberta Seniors Health portfolio.
  • Leads partnership management with existing and future potential partners.
    • Ensure standardized systems and procedures are in place and adhered to in order to facilitate excellence in quality services
    • Act as primary point of escalation in Alberta for operational issues
    • Manage high risk issues and manage/conduct complaint and incident investigations relating to client/staff issues
    • Direct/coach facility managers to develop appropriate risk management action plans
  • Leads the execution of the SE Healths Model of Care for Older Adults.
  • Supports the Vice President in strategic dialogue with internal and external partners and stakeholders to drive ideas and strategies for advancing collective quality practices and outcomes.
  • Contributes to business development activities.
  • Models leadership attitudes and behaviors consistent with SE Health values, including a relentless focus on person-centered care, excellence, accountability, collaboration, equity, and innovation

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A registered nurse leader holding a current professional license, in good standing, to practice in Alberta.
  • Masters Degree with a focus on Health Sciences, Health or Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum five (5) to eight (8) years related experience in a formal nursing executive leadership role.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in building, mentoring and coaching teams across multiple sites
  • Solid knowledge of quality, risk and improvement methodologies including process mapping, statistical analysis, ERM practices, measurement and tools, and knowledge of applicable legislation.
  • Experience in developing and executing both short and long-term quality improvement strategies with proven ability to scope, plan, execute and track complex projects in a health care environment
  • Understanding and experience with client experience design methodologies
