THE ROLE

Our client, the largest credit union in Alberta is seeking a Regional Manager Business Banking for its Northeast district, to lead a team of business bankers in and around Edmonton.

Reporting to the Vice President Business Banking, the Regional Manager will be responsible for the development and execution of Business Banking strategies to aggressively grow and maximize profitability relative to Commercial and Agricultural loans and deposits. As a Regional Manager Business Banking, and in conjunction with the Team Leads, the successful candidate will also train, motivate, and guide employees to ensure high quality service is provided to members and branch employees. The Regional Manager will use his/her knowledge and experience to make high level lending approvals, recommendations, and decisions. With an experience building business and building relationships, the Regional Manager Business Banking will sagely support his/her employees through transformational change.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Developing and maintaining effective sales and marketing efforts to maximize commercial loan and deposit growth, expansion of our business membership, and overall profitability.
  • Managing Business Banking lending and deposit activities including approval of rates within discretionary limits, authorizing loans within prescribed lending authorities, and recommending to loan requests above those limits.
  • Participating in and taking a leadership role in various assigned projects that ensure the future success of Business Banking overall
  • Ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of Regional Business Banking locations, within the approved FTE compliment, to minimize costs while providing quality service and ensuring established policies and procedures are followed
  • Preparing annual budget and control Business Banking costs within discretionary limits
  • Preparing yearly Business Banking plan to include development/growth potential and business strategy

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Business degree or MBA considered as an asset.
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of commercial lending experience, or equivalent.
  • Strong leadership experience and a track record for driving results.
  • A general knowledge of banking operations.
  • Extensive knowledge in commercial financing/
  • Strong analytical abilities, thorough knowledge of portfolio management and sound marketing skills.
  • Transformational leadership experience, and results driven.
